Zemer Chai, DC’s Premier Jewish Choir, will host a unique holiday concert with special guests, The Soldiers’ Chorus and The Pentagon Winds of the U.S. Army Field Band.
Featuring stunning musical arrangements in a diversity of styles - from the Renaissance settings of Salomone Rossi to Handel’s, Judas Maccabaeus, from the haunting sounds of spirituals to the music of Chanukah – the concert celebrates the freedom of all cultures in America to thrive.
Celebrate Light! Celebrate Freedom! will take place on Thursday, December 15 at 8 p.m. at Washington Hebrew Congregation, 3935 Macomb Street NW, Washington, DC.
“At this time of year, it’s good to remember how fortunate we are to live in a country which protects the rights of all minority communities to live and worship in freedom,” said Eleanor Epstein, founding conductor of Zemer Chai, “All of us who know – either first hand or from history – what it means to live under tyranny, are deeply grateful for this core American principle. We can’t think of better guests to join us in this concert than the Soldiers’ Chorus and the Pentagon Winds.”
Zemer Chai’s 2004 concert with the internationally renowned Soldiers’ Chorus was “a thrilling and emotional experience for both the singers and the audience,” Epstein added.
Admission is free. Tickets are required and can be printed at www.ZemerChai.org .
