Elementary schools present a double opportunity for community building — among the children and among the families, with ties into the community at large. Naomi Reem, Head of School of the Jewish Primary Day School of the Nation’s Capital and a TI member for the last six years, will share her thoughts about building a caring community in a Jewish community day school. The philosophy instituted at JPDS seeks to eliminate bullying and exclusionary behaviors and enhance positive interactions between children and among children and staff members.
Naomi Reem is in the seventh year of her tenure at JPDS-NC. Naomi was born and raised in Argentina, lived in Israel for several years, and moved to the U.S. in 1992. She holds a BA in Education and Jewish History from Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and a Masters in Jewish Education from Hebrew College in Newton, MA. Prior to her work at JPDS-NC, Naomi was the Head of School of Sinai Academy of the Berkshires in western Massachusetts, and the Judaic Studies Coordinator at the Beth David Congregation Day School in Miami, FL.
