Lag ba-Omer: Picnic, Bonfire & Barley Soup Celebration

Category :: Community
Celebrate Lag ba-Omer – the joyous 33rd day of the journey from Passover to Shavuot – with a campfire and picnic in the park. We’ll gather ‘round the fire for music, singing, eating, and hanging out into the night. To mark the ancient Jewish practice of bringing an omer (Hebrew for sheaf) of barley to the Temple each day of this barley harvest period, we’ll cook up a huge pot of barley soup over the fire for all to share. The Dufferin Grove Farmers’ Market will be open until 7pm.

Bring:
-Your picnic dinner + everything you need to eat it (e.g., utensils)
-Bowl + spoon for barley soup
-Instruments

In the event of rain, event will be cancelled. :(

Cost: $5

Where to find the picnic: The fire pit on south side of rink house near north end of park.

Presented by Makom: Creative Downtown Judaism and Shoresh Jewish Environmental Programs with support from the Natan Fund.
