hike to mount si with jpass august 14 2011
Hello Everyone,

One of the staples of hiking in the Northwest: Mt. Si. Nestled in the North Cascades, this is a ‘classic hike’ with a view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Definately a 'si' of relief once you make it to the top of the mountain.

“Looming over the town of North Bend like a giant stegosaurus, Mount Si is all that remains of an oceanic plate volcano… Given its popularity, it’s interesting to note that within 4.0 miles the trail rises 3,600 feet. Hiking to the top of Mount Si is like climbing the Space Needle six times…” (Best Hikes near Seattle)

(Please bear in mind that it is rated as a moderate to strenuous hike.)

Summer has arrived and with it, we hope the warm weather. We are planning this hike to Mt. Si on Sunday, August 14, 2011. With the summer weather, please be advised to bring warm weather essentials i.e. hat, sunscreen, lunch (snacks), sunglasses and water, water, water.

Afterwards, we will continue our tradition of getting a bite to eat at a local restaurant, this time, Goldberg’s Deli in Factoria Mall.(Pastrami on dark rye?)

Key stats: It is an 8.3 mile hike that will take approximately 5-6 hours. The difficulty level is moderate to strenuous. Elevation gain: 3,600 ft. Leashed dogs welcome. No need of a NW Forest Pass.
