Come out and socialize on Sunday, September 18th from 2pm- 7pm with other members of the Bay area LBTQ Jewish community from Congregation Emanu-El, Jewish Federation's LGBT Alliance Faygeleh's, Nehirim, Moishe House, A Wider Bridge and Be'chol Lashon). Join us at the 2:00pm matinee screening of Eytan Fox's MARY LOU at the Castro and a cocktail social a Blush wine bar (476 Castro Street). It will be a no-host bar at Blush, but FREE appetizers will be available after the screening.
About MARY LOU:
Acclaimed Israeli director Eytan Fox (The Bubble, Walk on Water, Yossi & Jagger) brings to life a modern fable with a catchy musical message, based on the songs of Israeli pop legend Svika Pick. Meir, a young man from a small town, searches for his mother in Tel Aviv—where he finds fame as a drag queen in this top-notch musical. In the genre of the TV hit Glee, this modern fable accounts Miriam’s dream of becoming a famous singer, leading her to disappear mysteriously, abandoning her son, Meir, on his 10th birthday. Now in high school, Meir and his best friend are eyeing the same gorgeous guy. Meir struggles to find himself as he continues to search for his mother.
