They'll discuss how technologies like videoconferencing, the internet, store-and-forward imaging, streaming media, and terrestrial and wireless communications will be used to support long-distance clinical health care, patient and professional health-related education, public health and health administration.

Jasper zu Putlitz is President of Robert Bosch Healthcare, Inc., a leading provider of innovative telehealth systems. Bosch’s Telehealth solutions strive to improve diagnosis and treatment through systematic patient monitoring and involvement, that allow clinicians to remotely manage patient health under the brand names Visual Telecommunications Network, Inc. (ViTel Net) and Health Hero Network. The result is that health professionals are able to provide a higher quality of care providing for patients with chronic conditions, patients lead happier and healthier lives, and the cost of healthcare is reduced for payors.

Previously, Jasper was a consultant and partner with the consulting firm McKinsey, in Germany for twelve years, where he focused on health and logistics, as well as human resources and organization. Before he began consulting work, Jasper, who has an MD degree, spent seven years working as a physician associated with hospitals in Munich, Zurich, Freiburg, and at Harvard University. He was born in Heidelberg, Germany. During high school, he took classes in (ancient) Hebrew and spent several weeks in Israel at Kibbutz Bror Chail (near Ashkelon).

Dr. Yan Chow is Director of Kaiser Permanente (KP) Information Technology’s Innovation & Advanced Technology Group (IAT). IAT identifies, assesses, and makes internal recommendations on new and emerging clinical information technologies that will impact health care in the next two to five years.

IAT is affiliated with KP’s Sidney R. Garfield Center for Health Care Innovation, an advanced 37,000-sf laboratory for care delivery simulation. The Garfield Center houses a full-sized OR, ED, ICU, OB suite, medical/surgical ward, outpatient offices, and even a home care environment. Here new technologies and workflows are tested in as real a setting as possible without risk to patients or disruption of operations.

Dr. Chow earned his A.B. with honors from Harvard University and his M.D. from the University of California at San Diego. In 2005 he received his MBA from the University of California at Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, where he graduated as valedictorian.
