‘YEMEN BLUES’ takes over New York in a one night only, special performance, Nov. 12th at Highline Ballroom
Yemen Blues: Infusing modern day blues with an elegant ethnic twist
"Yemen Blues", led by singer and front man, Ravid Kahalani,presents an undeniable mix of jazz tonalities that cross into funk, ringing out an ode to African grooves and a modern echo of Kahalani's ancestral rhythms.
Shaped by his origins as a Yemeni Jew, the hypnotizing resonance of Kahalani's voice creates a canvas printed with deep and enchanting emotions.
Stretching like a slow caravan crossing the desert, it winds through West African bluesand the thousand and one vibrations of the Sahara, Nubian, Gnawi, Touaregs, Saidi, and Bambara. Accompanied by percussion, oud, cello, and brass instruments, Yemen Blues gives a live performance that is an eruption of dance that is both complex and resolutely modern.

Opening for Yemen Blues is DIDA; a new, fresh rising star of the New York music scene. In the short time she's been living in New York, the talented vocalist/guitarist has garnered the interest and fascination of some of the industry's most celebrated veterans. Dida's style seamlessly weaves influences from many genres, elegantly moving from jazz to blues to folk to popular music.
She has charmed and captured worldwide audiences with her distinct personality, unique voice, and virtuosic guitar playing.
Yemen Blues will perform at the Highline Ballroom on Monday, November 12 at 8:00PM.
Doors open at 6:00 PM. Dida performs at 7:00.
