Traditional Moroccan Gnawa Music at the East Village Class & Concert Series

Gnawa is spiritual music that is traditionally used therapeutically. It is traditionally performed during a trance ceremony called a derdeba (possession rite) which generally take place at nighttime. For this reason it is also called al-layla (nighttime, in Arabic).

Join curator and musician David Lizmi at Aish Downtown for a special world music experience; a concert of traditional Moroccan Gnawa music, following a Kabbalah class, as part of the second installment of our Class & Concert Series.
