Ever been invited to a Henna ceremony? It’s just one of the many rituals associated with a Sephardic wedding. Join us on Tu B'Av (the 15th day of the month of Av), the Jewish holiday of love, as we look at the various customs specific to North African (Maghrebian) Jewish weddings. We will look at various ketuboth (Jewish marriage contracts), sample foods particular to this culture, and discuss the significance of the Henna ceremony – sometimes considered the central part of the wedding – in Jewish culture and its parallel in Arab culture.
