WHAT: R&R Saturdays are FREE at the JCC! Make your Shabbat afternoon special and share in our community. Workshops, Art, Yoga, Meditation, Food, Music, Study Sessions, film, creative art projects, Spa Experiences, Indoor & Outdoor play! There are programs for both children and adults. Guaranteed fun for the whole family! All are welcome.

Hear ye! Hear ye! Ever wonder how Renaissance Faires got started or what life is like working at one? Now is your chance to get a behind the scenes look at an American amusement park like no other!

Community Cinema: The Agony and the Ecstasy (Dir. Carol Reed, USA, 1965, 138 min)
Charlton Heston stars as Renaissance artist Michelangelo, who begrudgingly paints the Sistine Chapel for imperious Pope Julius. The film focuses on the battle of wills between the perfectionist artist and the impatient Pope who commissions (and eventually commands) him to paint the famed chapel.

Adult Art Project: Drawing & Sketching in Three-Dimensional Space [Adult Symbol]
During the Renaissance, artists learned to use linear perspective, the idea that converging lines meet at a single vanishing point and shapes get smaller with increasing distance from the eye, to help paintings accurately represent the world they saw around them. Practice these and other fascinating methods to create wonderful drawing for you to keep.

Captain Martin instructs his audience in the ways of pirate life-- including pirate language, pirate walk, pirate song, and pirate swordplay! "How to be a Pirate" enthralls young and old alike with comedy, audience interaction, and even a touch of history!

Jews in the Renaissance (1450-1650) with The Creepy Bard David Mikofsky
From the expulsions, restrictions on occupations, blood libels and pogroms to the mysticism of Safed, the rise of Jewish Urbanism and the writings of Spinoza- the Renaissance was a rich and complex time in Jewish history. The always entertaining David Mikofsky is our guide through the dark and deep days of the Jews in the Middle Ages.
