The past four years have been anything but slow for Israeli keyboardist and composer, Idan Raichel. He's released a 3-disc live album set, written numerous songs and toured with GRAMMY winner India Arie, co-written a song calling for racial harmony with Israeli President and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Shimon Peres, performed for President Obama at the Kennedy Center on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, sold out shows at Radio City Music Hall and other major venues worldwide, toured India, South America and Africa and released the highly praised Tel Aviv Session album with Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Touré (and this is just the short list).
With the release of The Project's most recent album Quarter to Six Raichel says, “After ten years with the Project, I feel we have reached a time of change and reflection, a transition period, both musically and personally.” "The Idan Raichel Project is known around the world for its ambitious cross-cultural collaborations that have changed the face of Israeli popular music and offered “a fascinating window into the young, tolerant, multi-ethnic Israel taking shape away from the headlines” (Boston Globe). Since the release of their first international album on Cumbancha in the fall 2006 The Idan Raichel Project have become global ambassadors representing a hopeful world in which artistic collaboration breaks down barriers between people of different backgrounds and beliefs."
