Slichot/pre-High Holiday High Holy Day service

Category :: Community
All are welcome to join us on Saturday evening, September 8, at 7:30 pm. First, Havdalah will close Shabbat for another week, as it engages our five senses: seeing the flame of the braided candle, feeling its heat, smelling sweet spices, tasting wine and hearing blessings. Slichot, meaning “forgiveness,” is an interactive service. We dress our Torah scrolls in their white covers, share some prayers and songs, and discuss a High Holy Day topic or two. We'll also hear the sound of the shofar for the first time of the season. After the service, we'll enjoy some desserts, adding to the transition to a sweet new year.
