Meditation: Free Synagogue of Flushing (FSF) hosts an hour class on Mindfulness Mediation with *Rabbi Michael Weisser on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. The synagogue is located at 41-60 Kissena Blvd, Flushing. For more information, call (718) 961-0030 or mail [email protected]
*Rabbi Michale Weisser is ordained as both Rabbi and Cantor and certified as an educator. While working with the Congregation B’nai Jeshurun in Lincoln, Nebraska, the Grand Dragon of the White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan threatened Rabbi Weisser and his family. The Rabbi and his family ultimately befriended the Klansman and were instrumental in his change from an attitude of hate and bigotry to one of love and tolerance, culminating in his conversion to Judaism. The book, Not by the Sword: How a Cantor and His Family Transformed a Klansman was written about these events by Kathryn Watterson. The University of Nebraska Press will be reissuing the book in 2012
