Start off the New Year with a new take on Shakespeare downstairs at the CORNELIA STREET CAFE (29 Cornelia Street, NYC- 212-989-9319) as part of their JewFest week. The Dark Lady Players, directed by Jenny Greeman, will demonstrate that Shakespeare was a woman, and black, and Jewish. Announced in 2006, this is now one of the leading Shakespeare theories and the Dark Lady Players are the world’s only experimental Shakespeare company. Comedy routines include Isaac Scranton as William Shakespeare implausibly explaining how he wrote the plays, and Mimi Hirt as the true author the Jewish feminist poet Amelia Bassano Lanier. The $15 admission includes a drink.
