Jascha Heifetz was renowned as the world's greatest violinist, the man about whom Itzhak Perlman says in the film, “When I spoke with him, I thought, ‘I can’t believe it. I’m talking with God’.” This film portrays a musical wunderkind who went on to set the standard in violin playing for nearly a century. We will get to know him through home movies and personal family photos taken from 1903-1987, a prestigious concert artist so well known in popular culture, his name became shorthand for greatness, for everyone from Jack Benny to The Muppets to Woody Allen.
Is the man and the artist the same person? What is the price each pays? And who was the man behind the music?
