From Ghetto to Palazzo: Vocal Music of Salamone Rossi Ebreo

Category :: Concert
from ghetto to palazzo vocal music of salamone rossi ebreo january 30 2011
Soloists of the Clarion Music Society offer a concert of works by the Jewish-Italian composer Salamone Rossi (c. 1570-1630), including liturgical works in Hebrew and secular Italian madrigals for the court. Presenting the sacred music for clandestine services and the madrigals penned in the idiom of the dominant culture, the program will bring to light Rossi's connection to both the ghetto of his birth and the palazzo of his ambitions, reflecting upon the timeless balance between tradition and assimilation.
