Folkswagon
A Short Film by Shachar Langlev

Screening and Discussion

Tuesday, June 7th
7:45 PM

A powerful and unexpected character-driven drama, the story of FOLKSWAGON will grab you and hold you.

Stifled by the army service he just completed, and desperate to get away from the looming pain of his grandmother’s recent death, Gill leaves Israel for a new start in New York City. He finds himself living with Jacob, an elderly holocaust survivor whose odd habits include hoarding compulsively and anonymously attending funerals. Living with Jacob, a survivor like his grandmother, forces Gil to confront his unresolved feelings against the German people. Things only get worse when the one girl he takes interest in turns out to be German.

Originally from Israel, Shachar Langlev has been working in New York’s film industry over the past several years as a director, producer and cinematographer, garnering recognition in his field. In addition, Shachar has been a religious school teacher at EET for the past 5 years.
