A Panel Discussion Moderated by BluePrint Fellow Yelena Goltsman

Come hear an exciting, thought-provoking panel discussion about what it's like to be a Russian-speaking LGBTQ Jew in the US today. The panelists will also discuss Jewish and gay life in both the former Soviet Union and modern-day Russia. Discover the rich spiritual and social life and the support networks that exist in New York today.

Q&A, authors’ book signing, and reception to follow.


Panelists include:

Yevgeniy Fiks is a Moscow-born multidisciplinary, post-Soviet conceptual artist.

Masha Gessen is a journalist and author of The Man Without a Face: The Rise and Rule of Vladimir Putin.

Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum is a spiritual leader of Congregation Beit Simchat Torah (CBST) and a human rights activist.

Dr. Jay Michaelson is a writer, scholar, and activist whose work focuses on the intersections of religion, contemplative practice, sexuality, and law.

Dr. Bella Proskurov is a Licensed Psychologist and RUSA LGBT activist.

Panel Moderator: Yelena Goltsman is a founder and co-president of RUSA LGBT.
