On Saturday, May 12, 2012, Cantor Shira Ginsburg will present CANTOR SHIRA...UNPLUGGED, a performance of American Songbook favorites that inspire her. The two performances, at 6:45 PM and 8:30 PM will feature Ginsburg accompanied by Broadway's Kevin Crewell.
A graduate of Syracuse University's Drama and Musical Theatre program, Ginsburg spent a number of years in NY working as a professional actress, singer, and songwriter before being invested as Cantor from Hebrew Union College and serving as full-time Cantor at East End Temple since 2009. Ginsburg’s life work has been integrating the emotional, inspirational, theatrical, and spiritual elements of music into the totality of Jewish experience. She has performed on stages in Israel, England, and all over the United States. Most recently she has involved herself in productions and concerts that aim to give voice to those who cannot speak for themselves, including the Broadway Benefit for Darfur, Simon Wiesenthal's Humanitarian Award Ceremony, and "Wallenberg."
In December 2009, Ginsburg performed in the premiere of Bubby’s Kitchen at NYC’s Museum of Jewish Heritage. This performance, created by Ginsburg, is the remarkable story of her family’s Holocaust experience. Ginsburg continues to travel and perform Bubby’s Kitchen in communities throughout the US.
