Walter Russell Mead is the Henry A. Kissinger senior fellow for U.S. foreign policy at the Council on Foreign Relations and one of the country's leading thinkers on American foreign policy. His works include Special Providence: American Foreign Policy and How It Changed the World, and God and Gold: Britain, America and the Making of the Modern World. Mr. Mead is a Brady-Johnson Distinguished Fellow in Grand Strategy at Yale and the author of a blog that appears regularly at The-American-Interest.com.

Bret Stephens writes "Global View," the Wall Street Journal's weekly foreign-affairs column. He is a deputy editorial page editor, responsible for Journal's editorial pages in Europe and Asia, as well as a member of the paper's editorial board. He was previously editor-in-chief of the Jerusalem Post.
