Adult Perspectives - THEATRE OF THE OPPRESSED NYC

Category :: Theatre
13th Street Housing Works

Join us for our Fourth Annual Forum Theatre Play presented by Theatre of the Oppressed NYC. This year’s show will be created and performed by members of the 13th Street Housing Works community.

Theatre of the Oppressed is an interactive methodology that is used to investigate situations in which cast members have been denied their basic rights, personally and collectively. The 13 Theatre Troupe’s actors have been investigating discrimination toward homeless and HIV+ New Yorkers. In the rehearsal and development stage, the cast shares and combines their real-life stories into original plays. The result is a “forum theatre” performance in which the scenes ask a question of the audience, and the audience (or “spect-actors”) intervene in the action to try out various alternatives to the problems.
