To ink or not to ink? Taboo or thoughtful personal expression?
What does Judaism say about this ancient body language? Are all tattoos equal?
Are some allowed and others prohibited? If you have a tattoo, can you be buried in a Jewish cemetery? And what about piercings? Are they okay or banned?
Rabbi Schweitzer will explore an array of Jewish texts that address these and other questions about tattooing. We’ll also consider the views of contemporary Jews who bring their modern sensibilities to these matters. Discussion and participation is encouraged.
