Montreal’s Hilarious! is proud to present Kosher Jokes for the Halaladays!

As big as Christmas is, there is always a major void for people who don’t celebrate that holiday. Both the Jewish and Muslim communities very well represent Montreal. Unfortunately, there is usually nothing to do for these people during the holidays, until now!

Montreal’s top Jewish and Muslim Stand Up Comics are joining forces in an attempt to bring both groups together, to laugh and be very merry. And in an ironic twist, this show will be taking place inside the beautiful 425-seat Gesu church theatre! That’s right, a Jewish and Muslim comedy show in a church on Christmas!

About the Producers:

Montreal’s Hilarious! has produced many successful shows including the Best of Montreal, the Boom Comedy Series, the Love Show, We Ain’t Terrorists, etc.

The performers include, Eman, Jeff Schouela, Dan Laxer, Faisal Butt, Robby Hoffman, Abdul Butt, and Jessica Salomon. All Performer Bio’s are on page 2 and 3 of this press release.

About the Performers:

Dan Laxer

He fulfilled a dream at Mix 96 before picking up a Master's Degree in English, scribbling for a senior citizens' newspaper (while selling ads), and eventually worming his way back into the hallowed halls of CJAD, as a producer, a traffic reporter, and finally, as host of Laxer Live, first evenings, and now afternoons. "That's another dream come true," says Dan, "as is my new foray into stand-up comedy."

Dan has also been writing for citeeze.com, when he's not busy parenting the 2 most beautiful & brilliant children in the world.

Eman

An absolute killer for the last 3 years at NYC’s Arab-American Comedy Festival, Eman is best known in Montreal as the founder and host of the monthly BOOM (Best Of Open Mic) Show at The ComedyWorks. This sultry diva has opened for the Axis of Evil and Arabs Gone Wild comedy tours and was invited to the Amman Stand-Up Comedy Festival and the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal. She has also performed in comedy in LA, San Francisco, Chicago…and Paterson, New Jersey (it’s not all glamorous, people).

Jeff Schouela

A great comic and writer who prides himself on original material with a unique delivery style, Jeff has been living the comedy dream for 7 years, performing at prestigious comedy venues in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Montreal and Cornwall.

Faisal Butt

A regular performer at both the ComedyWorks and ComedyNest, Faisal also co-produced the West Island’s wildly successful Guerilla Comedy shows and has become the regular (and lovable) host of Drop The Gloves Tuesdays at Grumpy’s. He has twice showcased for the Just For Laughs Festival and has made numerous appearances in sketches and short films.

Jessica Salomon

Jessica was working as a war crimes lawyer for the U.N. when she decided to pursue a career in comedy. Frankly, she thought, it was time to get serious.

Jessica works out of Montreal, where she performs regularly at the Comedy Works and the Comedy Nest. She has also performed in Ottawa, Toronto and Chicago and auditioned for Just for Laughs.

Robby Hoffman

Robby Hoffman was born the 7th child to her parents in Brooklyn, New York in 1986 (no, it didn’t end there; her parents had 3 more). She attended Jewish day school for her formative years - where she enjoyed colouring pictures in grade 10 Yiddish class and getting marked for them. Between fending off her brothers and her loud hearing-impaired mother, she still managed to get her Bachelor of Commerce at McGill in 2009.
