What is a Crypto Jew? Crypto Jews were Sephardic Jews from Spain and Portugal who converted to Catholicism in the late 14th century after the expulsion of 1492. Some willingly converted and others were coerced. Many Crypto Jews secretly continued to practice Judaism and passed on a hidden legacy to their descendants.
Did your family light candles on Friday nights without knowing why? Did they sweep to the center of the room and n...ot over the threshold? Did they ever cover mirrors when a relative died?
