Author/Attorney/Boxer Kenneth N. Green will discuss and personally sign copies of his book, “I’m From Division Street,” on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2 p.m. at Indian Trails Library District, 355 Schoenbeck Rd., Wheeling, IL. The public is invited to this free program. To register, call 847-279-2232.
Kenneth N. Green was kicked out of Roosevelt High School in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood in 1955. Six months later, he was allowed to return and graduate in January 1956. The experience, detailed in his book, changed him forever and he rebounded from poverty and academic problems to achieve personal and professional success. Green became a defense attorney, Chief of Public Defenders in Los Angeles County, a boxer inducted into the California Hall of Fame, Adjunct Professor at UCLA, and single parent of a son.
“I’m From Division Street” also vividly describes the Humboldt Park neighborhood where the author grew up and profiles famous and successful Jewish people who had their roots in that neighborhood. The book is available at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Barnes&Noble.com, Barbara’s Bookstore, Amazon.com, and other retailers worldwide. “I’m From Division Street” is also available as an e-book through Amazon.com and on the author’s website: kengreenesq.wordpress.com.
