Ivri Lider. You may not have heard of him yet, but to hundreds of thousands of fans, the name is synonymous with innovation, creativity, a diverse musical pedigree and a Gold or Platinum record for each of his seven albums.

Since releasing his 1997 debut, Lider has been one of Israel’s biggest selling artists of all time. The winner of Male Singer of the Year, nominated by countless national radio stations and music magazines, the singer/songwriter will finally showcase his immense talents to a broader audience with the global release of his album Fly/Forget. The album, produced by Andy Green (Lou Reed, John Cale, Keane), brings together the numerous styles that Lider has deftly exhibited in the past, bridging his love of electronic music (“Black,” “Mike”) with warmer acoustic tracks (“Fly/Forget,” “Today”) and classic, rootsy pop (“Whiskey Prince.”) “I get a little bored when an album only has one style,” admits Lider. “I go, ‘OK, I need something else.”

This confluence of styles is nothing new for multi-instrumentalist, who learned to read music before he could read words. “Arts are very much in my family,” says Lider. “After learning the piano, my parents bought me an analog synth, computer and drum machine, so I got the best of both worlds.” Growing up on a steady diet of Beatles, Brian Eno and Kraftwerk, Lider absorbed the sounds of both UK electronic pop (Depeche Mode, Yazoo) and homegrown music, showing a love for the latter but displaying an influence more in line with U.S. and U.K. groups than his local peers.

For Lider, who has already gained success throughout Europe, the decision to answer calls of outspoken fans to develop his presence stateside was an obvious progression. “It’s gotten to the point where if Perez Hilton is blogging about my record, I’m probably doing something right,” says Lider candidly. “I thought it was time to change my latitude a bit. There are a lot of places I’ve been to that I told myself I gotta get back and do another show. I’m really proud of this record. I feel like on this album, my sonic compass reached a new level, but now that it’s been cut, its time to get back on the road.”

Latching on to one style has never been a trait or desire of Lider. Thanks to his diverse musical upbringing, the musician is equally at home with acoustic and electronic music, ballads and rockers, and showcases all of these influences on Fly/Forget. For nearly 15 years, countless people around the world have discovered this passionate artist who bares his soul on every record. With Lider’s keen sense of songwriting, myriad genre-hopping and gorgeous vocal melodies, this new offering highlights why he’s considered by many to be in a class of his own. Fly/Forget promises to catapult Ivri Lider’s already dedicated fan base onto an entirely different scope
