Kabbalat Shabbat Friday Night Services with Marc Abrahams of the Ig Nobel Prizes

Category :: Community
Havurah On The Hill is excited to welcome Marc Abrahams as our December speaker!

Marc is the father and master of ceremonies of the Ig Nobel Prizes, which honor achievements that first make people laugh, and then make them think. The Prizes are intended to celebrate the unusual, honor the imaginative and spur people's interest in science, medicine, and technology. Every year, in a gala ceremony in Harvard's Sanders Theatre, 1,200 splendidly eccentric spectators watch the winners step forward to accept their Prizes. These are physically handed out by genuinely bemused genuine Nobel laureates.

In addition to his work for the Ig Nobel Prizes, Marc, co-founded and edits the science humor magazine Annals of Improbable Research (AIR). and its website and Internet video series. (http://www.improbable.com).

Marc also writes books (including the recent This Is Improbable), a column for the British newspaper The Guardian, and other things in other places. The Washington Post called Marc "the nation's guru of academic grunge." The Journal of the American Medical Association called him "the Puck of Science." He has been called many other things.

The suggested donation for this event is $10.00.
