On Wednesday, May 13, 2015 Eboo Patel, founder and president of the Chicago-based international nonprofit Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC), will be the keynote speaker at the Institute for Christian &Jewish Studies’ annual Manekin-Clark Lecture. Patel’s presentation will focus on the importance of building robust and creative interfaith spaces that serve both religious and nonreligious communities. His talk will also address the best practices of effective interfaith leadership, including the ability to voice values, engage diversity and action behalf of the common good.
As a leading Muslim thinker, Eboo Patel has received widespread recognition for his leadership, speaking and writing on interfaith cooperation.He has served on President Obama’s inaugural Advisory Council of the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships, and Islamica Magazine named him one of ten young Muslim visionaries shaping Islam in America. Patel has spoken at the TED Conference, the Clinton Global Initiative, the Nobel Peace Prize Forum and universities around the world. He is a regular contributor to The Washington Post, USA Today, Huffington Post, NPR and CNN.
Since its incorporation in 2002, IFYC has worked on five continents and with over 200 college and university campuses to train thousands in the principles of interfaith leadership.
