OK folks I'm going to try to appeal to a bunch of you at once so as not to alienate or insult anyone. I've been dying to go to Dad's Garage for a while now and just spoke to one of their staff, Renee (I think I spelled that right) about their shows, tickets, and facility. Renee described their Friday night show, Samurai Davis Jr. and Dim Sum's Super Mega Happy Fun Time Improv Show" as "ridiculously over the top funny." So that's the evening's entertainment. It happens to be a 10:30pm show but Renee still said it was worth it. Now, I'm a late night guy so I don't have a problem with this. It's also Shabbat which some of you might have an issue with but because I'm not that religious I'm still going. HOWEVER, because it's a later night Friday show that gives us time to have a nice Sabbath meal together first, candle lighting, kiddush, and Hamotzi included. If you want to come to dinner only, no problem. If you want to just meet us at the show, no problem. If you want to do both, GREAT. Through the JCC I can order Shabbat In A Box meals. I thought we'd do this because we will have already done one potluck by then and it keeps with the Sabbath dinner feeling. I'll host the dinner at my house again because, honestly, I'm not yet comfortable enough to ask any of you guys to open up your home to a whole group of people small or large. Shortly after dinner, those going to the show, can head out. $16 covers dinner. $19 covers prime or "fancy pants" seating at the theater. So, this is a $35 dinner and a show evening. If you only want to do one or the other, just contact me and we'll work something out. Dinner will be at 6pm and while the show starts at 10:30pm it was suggested we get there earlier than that. I'm posting the location of this event as Dad's Garage but the time as early for dinner at my house so contact me if need directions or an address for me.
