“From Silence to Recognition: Confronting Discrimination in Emory’s Dental School History” A F

Category :: Movie
The short documentary "From Silence to Recognition: Confronting Discrimination in Emory's Dental School History" tells the story of how the anti-Semitism of John E. Buhler, dean of the dental school at Emory University from 1948 to 1961, led to academic failure of a high percentage of Jewish dental students. Through contemporary interviews, this film demonstrates the impact of these actions on the lives of the students who suffered from this grave injustice.

Following the 30 minute film, Dr. Perry Brickman, who was one of the students affected by Dr. Buhler's anti-Semitism, will join Dr. Eric Goldstein to discuss the historical research, conducted in part at the Cuba Family Archives, that exposed this injustice. Also joining the discussion will be Emory University's Dr. Gary Hauk, Vice President and Deputy to the President.

Light refreshments will be served

Cost: Free to Breman Museum members, reduced rate to non-members due to the temporary closure of two galleries.
